Every now and then, a session touches your heart in a truly special way — and this one did just that. I had the joy of photographing three energetic, kind-hearted brothers, their loving mama, and their beautiful grandmother among the peaceful redwoods of Davis, California.

As a Sacramento family photographer, moments like these remind me why I love what I do. These towering redwood trees created the perfect natural backdrop for a meaningful multi-generational family photo session. There’s something so powerful about capturing three generations together — laughter echoing through the trails, small hands reaching for ferns, and the warm, knowing smiles of the women who’ve helped raise them.
Family photography is all about freezing time — not just with posed portraits (though we captured some truly stunning ones!) but through the in-between moments: holding hands, shared giggles, gentle glances, and the way a grandmother looks at her family with pride and love.

The redwood grove in Davis, CA is one of my favorite hidden gems for sessions like this. It offers the serenity of a forest escape without leaving town — perfect for families who want a natural, outdoor setting for their photos while staying close to home. The soft light, rich textures, and quiet beauty of the redwoods make it a dream location for family photos in Northern California.
